This Saturday the Castles Competition between secondary schools organized by Castellers de Vilafranca will be held

After 5 years, the Castellers de Vilafranca are once again organizing the Joverd, the Castle Competition between secondary schools in the Alt Penedès, which is held every two years. The last edition was held in 2018, but in 2020 it had to be suspended due to the pandemic. Despite these years of impasse, the new edition of the Joverd, the eleventh already, has been a successful call and will be the most crowded. Saturday, 1,300 students from 10 secondary schools from the region will meet in Cal Figarot to do castells.

The gangs are scheduled to enter the square at 10 a.m. and the contest itself will begin at 11 a.m. This Tuesday, February 28, the order of performance of the gangs was drawn, which has been established from as follows:

1st San Ramon
2nd Children of Alt Foix
3rd Bordegassos of the Alt Penedès
4th Castellers del Foix
5th Carquinyolis of Sant Quintí
6th Colla Joves de Sant Elias
7th Castellers del Nou
8th Returned from Milan
9th Tiralongues del Pou de l'Eugeni d'Ors
10th Mountain climbers of Montagut

Unlike the previous editions, this year the Castellers de Vilafranca have introduced some modifications to the regulations in order to win in safety. For this reason, in the two rounds of castells, there will be no enxanetes, but the casseroles will have to wait for the entire time that the castle would be loading. In addition, a new round is introduced, in which the gangs will have to do a full top knot. The goal, according to the organizers, is that in the constructions students who have never done castells participate and not students who are already castellers. Don't do the highest castellss either, but do the ones where more people participate.
