Under the title Castellers de Vilafranca: Strength, Balance, Valor and... Art! You can enjoy a total of seventy works by different artists

Next Friday, March 22, the exhibition Castellers de Vilafranca: Strength, Balance, Valor and... Art will be inaugurated! At the Berger Balaguer Forum in one of the many events on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Vilafranca green group. This exhibition, organized by the Castellers de Vilafranca themselves and the Pinnae Foundation, is the result of months of research for works of art inspired by the Castellers de Vilafranca, works by different authors whose protagonists are the Greens.

We are facing a unique and special art exhibition for several reasons: it is the first exhibition of this kind dedicated to a Castellera gang or Penedesan entity, where more than seventy works of art dedicated to the gang have been located and where a total of 51 artists participate, the fact that it is a collective and continuous exhibition throughout these seventy-five years of history.

The works are of various styles and techniques: oils, acrylics, engraved watercolors, drawings, collages, etc., and bear witness that the Castellers de Vilafranca have had a relationship with art since the beginning. Likewise, some of the works of art are located in Cal Figarot, the social headquarters of the gang, and there was no desire to move them in order to make it an extension of the exhibition on Rambla Nostra Senyora. Some works have never been exhibited before or have not been publicly visible for many years, and for the first time in Vilafranca you can admire the work "El Casteller" by Eduard Arranz-Bravo, created in 1972.

On the occasion of this exhibition, a catalog has been published that includes 64 works by 54 different artists. It is a limited edition that will be put on sale at a popular price within the reach of everyone, Castellers, castells fans and art lovers. All the money from the sale of this catalog will go to Fundació l'Espiga, a non-profit organization that supports people with disabilities and their families. It responds to the needs of people in the regions of Alt Penedès and Garraf. The Fundació l'Espiga aims to promote general and specific assistance, education and training, and, in general, any activity that tends to the social inclusion of people with disabilities. The graphic image for this exhibition and the catalog is the work of Martí Ferré of Bildi Grafiks based on a fragment of Pau Boada's work for the first cover of the TOTHOM weekly in 1969.

The inauguration will have the interventions of the president of the Pinnae Foundation, Mr. Martí Solé i Bordes, and the president of Castellers de Vilafranca, Ernest Gallart i Pérez, as well as the presentation of the exhibition will be carried out by Mr. Eloi Miralles i Figueres, apothecary, folklorist and member of the Greens. Eloi Miralles is also the author of the introductory text of the exhibition catalogue. At the end of the opening ceremony of the exhibition, a glass of cava will be offered to attendees courtesy of Caves Oriol Rossell. The exhibition will be open from Friday 22 March to Sunday 5 May 2024. The exhibition can be visited from Friday 22 March to Sunday 5 May 2024.

In addition to the exhibition, it is planned to organize a set of parallel cultural activities: visits by students from schools and institutes, guided visits to the exhibition and to Cal Figarot, reading of stories about the castle, etc. .
