October 7-14 will bring the castells to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Next Monday, October 7, an expedition of 184 castellers will travel to the United States to participate in the first San Francisco Catalan Week. A Catalan week organized jointly with the Casal Català Bay Area and Northern California which will bring the castellss to the West Coast of the United States of America for the first time.
From the Bodegues Marimar Estate of the Torres family, to the most prestigious universities in the area, they will be able to experience Catalan culture at the hands of Castellers de Vilafranca.
Since the verds performed in Paris in 1973, they have performed more than 180 performances outside the country, but this is just the sixth occasion that the Castellers de Vilafranca have taken the castells outside of Europe, after the expeditions to Santiago de Chile (2008) , Valparaíso (2010), Mumbai (2011), New York (2012) and Shanghai (2015). The expedition has the support of the Vilafranca City Council, the Generaliat of Catalonia, the Torres Family, the Catalan Tourism Agency, Autocars Penedès, in addition to the usual sponsors of the gang: La Xarxa, DO Penedès, Banc de Sabadell, Social Work 'La Caixa', Oriol Rossell, Vallformosa, Family Torres, Áltima, El Bandarra, Construccions Munné, Cal Blay, Mas Tinell and Sia Biosca.
